PuRvEyer of JUnk

these are really old farm homes that have been abandoned for years just sitting pretty in the fields
treasures to be found!!

so i have been thinking..due to my husbands potent home brew .i would like to add a little pizazz to our family blog..maybe one day it will evolve into its own blog (a very good suggestion from jan because my hub does have a lot to offer in the department of cooking, (he keeps the meat on my bones..more than necessary but i guess that is my fault ;0) brewing, being a fabulous husband, dad and taking care of the cows)  but as of now i will stick to one. i love blogging about our family and our new adventures here in texas but YOU'ALL GET IT, we moved to the dairy, surrounded by tons of cow doo doo, lots of fields and miles and miles from everything. and YES i plan to keep posting numerous pictures of my boys and husband doing the cow thing because i simply can't get enough of  my man and boys in wranglers and rubber boots covered in manure with some friendly cows in the background.

but as we know my true passion is cooking....let's start over cause that is a complete lie but i wish it was true in some ways...my true passion is the thrill of the hunt of antiquing for all things used, unusual, chipped, rusted, JUnkY or sometimes called dead people's stuff. either in a empty barn, house, old movie theater(true story), in the middle of now where (which is easy to come by around this neck of the country), an alley, goodwill, salvation army, all stores marked "antique's or vintage" or random piles of rubbish on the side of the road.  as you can see i don't have any type of standard's as to where i look, it is all about what i find that makes it worth it. i have my mom all to thank for this habit since she did start this while i was in grade school by getting me to start my own collection of vintage coca-cola items...and the hunt never stopped. it just ran it course to whatever and whenever i seek out today on my treasure hunts.. so the point of this is that i want to blog more about my daily and or weekly finds and how i transform our house little by little. i feel like i am starting from scratch and want to share my little projects with you. i have been consumed and inspired daily if not hourly (thanx to my handy dandy droid phone) with all the decorating blogs out in blog land and why not share a piece of my pie with you!!

until next time ...out picking, driving, looking, digging, searching, hauling, smiling and finding all things junk....

momma's birthday

“A Mom is honest, a Mom is true, a Mom is precious, My Mom is You. Happy Birthday to YOU.”
-Anonymous

this picture really puts my age into perspective...yes i may be 29 now but i still feel like a 10 year old at heart..wishing i had the body from my senior year of high school...just dreaming!! and the fact that my 2 1/2 year old can pull me in a wagon makes me feel old again..because that means my first born baby boy is getting so big!! so i guess that leaves me feeling my age and that he can already take care of his momma when i am in my wheel chair someday!!

 anywhoo..
so on the day of my birthday we loaded up the boys and headed up to Amarillo for a fun day together at the local zoo.

had to purchase the shirt for lil nathan with #59 printed on the back..that was daddy's football number in high school..makes me think of being skinny again..still dreaming.

daddy and lil nathan checking out the animals...i on the other hand just checking out their bee-hinds!

smile boys! momma said so and it is her birthday!!

buffalo..or "horse" as to lil nathan..that is one weird looking horse child!

max head first down the "big boy slide" without any hesitation (did i mention his older brother wouldn't even consider going down this)..o this boy is going to give me panic attacks!

daddy had to catch max otherwise he would fly off the end of the slide!!

we HEART grandparents

out in the texas we are so happy when we have visitors!! especially grandparents that mean so much to nathan, me and the boys!! we have been waiting weeks for their visit and also put the pressure on me to get some much needed projects completed in the house!! we had such a great weekend spending time together cooking, shopping, playing, watching toy story 3,  visiting the cows and a some time in good ol' clovis, new mexico!!

the boys and the most wonderful grandparents!!

lil nathan showing us he can eat his boogies..he should also be in the zoo for such behavior.

jan made us "pioneer women" cinnamon rolls and we also popped open a bottle of 2002 silver oak..hey just cause we live in the country in the middle of no where doesn't mean we have lost it!!

daddy..can i help you

lil nathan is growing up so fast and absolutely loves everything about the dairy. some days i will bring him to the dairy (and leave brother max with the sitter at home) so he can spend some quality time with daddy and mommy (i am usually in the office..so he destroys my desk, colors on important documents on papa rocky's desk, plays with his tractors or locks himself in the bathroom..) working on the dairy. i tag along to take photos of course. but soon he will be ready to come more often and help daddy and papa rocky run the show!!

daddy and son working side by side

lil nathan definitely has no fear of cows and walks right up to these 1+ ton creatures on four legs.

swiss are my favorite..probably because i am part swiss (and i always showed swiss cows in 4-h)  but husband says Holsteins have better rear ends..can't deny that!! he really does surprise me everyday!

momma and son

got to be prepared with our wellies!

nothing better than splattered cow poo and tractor boots!

lil nathan checking out the cows waiting to be milked.

milk..milk..milk
drink it please!!
it really does a body good!!

BOYS and their TOYS

just another day for the boys at the dairy with their mini gator!! i am still wondering why a motorized plastic vehicle does not have seat belts..this thing has power and i am just cautiously waiting for one of the boys to fall out!! lil nathan grasps the concept of driving well but his steering needs a little work, since he is only 2 1/2  i will cut him a break :). nathan loves to drive and sits on our laps as we drive the big cars around the dairy. if we keep this up he should be driving all by himself by 4..i am totally kidding . but who knows!! nathan just points and tells us where max and him are headed: to the cows, hay or cotton seed pile. max being the younger brother is along for the ride holding on and smiling ear to ear!!
nathan thought it was imperative to bring along the ice cream maker on their journey! smart boy since we have a lot of milk around!!

dad redirecting the gator

auntie heidi pulling the wagon with our breakfast in it

keep your eyes on the road son!!

max has the right idea!! one hand on the wheel one in the air! he must be looking at papa rocky's bull riding pictures..note to self... max is going to be a wild child!!
