 what a smart boy to go through the barn doors..the reason we put it on the table was for you not to go inside of the barn my child.

 but we let you because it is in your nature to go against the rules (can't believe i am saying this and realizing this and you are only 16 months old) BUT couldn't resist taking pictures of you.

a little traveling circus came to the town we live in this past weekend and we took the long drive of 1/2 a mile to see the show!! i just finished reading "water for elephants" (i highly suggest this read) so i was very excited to go and take my boys . although no elephants were present, i felt like i stepped back in time under the striped tent.

 the tent was so tattered and worn...the sun shined through all the holes and it looked like a million bright stars. it was magical being under the BIG TOP!!

i must omit..i am really loving..well loving doesn't even begin to explain my giddiness..with the vintage circus look. i am currently collecting (cause i have to always be collecting something you know) vintage circus signs and searching high and low for old circus letters and other funky stuff to decorate the boys play room. the font, the style, the color's are so dramatic and i am OVER THE BIG TOP with the circus indeed!!

the play room is an add on to our house so we also have a brick wall similar to this one...the circus pictures and old signs look so cool against the brick!!

treasures i found the other day on the dirt backroads near the farm all in one shed just waiting for me and rusting. 

galvanized watering can, john deere oil can and craftsman metal tool box that is a pretty robins egg blue color under all that wonderful rust.

it had to go...

the plantation shutters was on my list of things to get rid of in this old house. this window is over 8 feet long, the main source of light for our living room area and it needed to be set free from all this wood !!!

the shutters made the room feel so small and dark... this girl likes her sunshine!!

so i had to call in my handy boys for some help

i gave them instructions and they went to work right away..lucky for me they live "in house"

i purchased these curtains from world market and i am planning on adding a third panel in the middle for more privacy and making some pillows for the bench. i also need to paint the remaining wood trim white. much better don't you think..and yes that is a vintage mantle on the left..we will talk about that some other time:)
